Dr. Muehlschlegel is a translational genomics researcher and cardiac anesthesiologist with expertise in the genetics and genomics of perioperative cardiovascular outcomes. His research centers on the impact of genetic variation on adverse cardiovascular events, and their significance on a functional level. He is the PI of the CABG Genomics study group, the PI of the NHLBI-sponsored TRANSCRIBE (transcriptomic analysis of left ventricular gene expression) study and the PI of Gene Expression Profiling in Subjects With Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation After Cardiac Surgery (GENEXPRO Surg) study. All studies aim to determine the relationship between genetic and genomic variation and perioperative morbidity in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
