Dr. Wu is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Dr. Sean R. Stowell’s Laboratory in the Department of Pathology, Joint Program in Transfusion Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He got his Ph.D. degree with the Microbiology and Glycobiology training from National Taiwan University and Academia Sinica Joint Program and graduated in 2018. During his training, he had conducted elegant experiments defining an approach of combinational protein therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection. Immediately following completion of his PhD, he joined Dr. Sean R. Stowell’s group at the Emory University School of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow in February 2019 and moved to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in August 2020. During his postdoc training, he launched a series of experiments designed to define the mechanism whereby galectins, which are a series of unique proteins expressed along the intestinal surface, kill microbes. He has defined unique aspects of the antimicrobial activity of several galectins to many pathogens that directly impact human health. His research findings have made a critical step forward to understand this overall host-pathogen interaction. Outside of work, he enjoys playing basketball, hiking, and traveling.
