Background

The RSEA recognizes the excellence of BWH research staff with a commitment to pursuing a further career in scientific research.

These awards were established in 2019 as the Research Staff Travel Awards in order to fund travel to a conference for research staff who often have fewer opportunities for such awards. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards transitioned to the Research Staff Excellence Awards as a $1,000 bonus due to travel restrictions, and continue as bonuses today.

As of 2023, the RSEA application now includes the option to choose one of two tracks: one for scientific accomplishments, which might be most relevant for Research Assistants, Research Technicians, and others doing direct work in scientific discovery; and one for administrative / support services, to recognize the contributions of Project Managers and other staff who are vital to our research enterprise at the department, division, or lab group level. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to BWHORC@partners.org for clarification on this new track distinction as we work to encompass all facets of our wide-ranging research community.
