Connors – BRI Sex Differences Methods Workshop

In response to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) call for a “sea change” regarding sex differences in biomedical research, the Connors-BRI Center for Research on Women’s Health & Gender Biology will host a workshop in May on the subject of incorporating sex differences in experimental design. The event will feature a keynote address by Doris Taylor, PhD from the Texas Heart Institute and talks on sex differences in basic and population research respectively with special emphasis on methodologies, examples of projects at BWH that have successfully incorporated sex differences, the challenges involved and how findings would have been impacted had sex differences not been considered in the study design. The workshop will end with a domain-specific (basic/clinical/translational research) ‘speed networking’ session to allow attending investigators who are currently doing sex differences research or who are interested in incorporating sex differences in their research to meet with the BWH experts in this area and seek advice on this subject.
