What’s New at NanoString for Neurological Research

June 5, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Speakers:

Dr. Kelly Miller – Sr. Marketing Development Scientist for Neurobiology

Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Neuropathology group leader at Charite – University of Medicine Berlin. PhD from the University of Florida College of Medicine
Dr. Kit Fuhrman – Principle Product Application Scientist for DSP

PhD in Immunology from the University of Florida with a focus on regulatory T cells and autoimmune diseases.

Abstract:

The new nCounter Neuropathology and Neuroinflammation Panels provide a comprehensive, 770 gene analysis platform for research in neurodegenerative diseases in both human and mouse models.  These panels were developed for a broad assessment of relevant pathways including neurotransmission, neuron-glia interaction, and inflammation, with an emphasis on performance, reproducibility and ease of use.  In this talk we will discuss the importance of genetic analysis in neuroscience research, including data generated from post-mortem Alzheimer’s, FTD and Parkinson’s disease brain tissue as well as mouse models of neurodegenerative disease.

We will also introduce the Digital Spatial Profiling Technology.  DSP combines standard immunofluorescence techniques with digital optical barcoding technology to perform highly multiplexed, spatially resolved profiling experiments on FFPE samples.  The DSP chemistry can be used for protein and RNA allowing for multianalyte analysis and deep characterization of you samples.

Direction to HBTM VTC 02006B Conference Room (60 Fenwood Rd, 2nd floor): The Hale Building for Transformative Medicine (HBTM) Room VTC 02006B is located on the 2nd floor of Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s new HBTM at 60 Fenwood Road. From 75 Francis Street, take the Main Pike (2nd floor of hospital) towards the S Elevator (You will walk through the Shapiro Cardiovascular Building to get to the Hale Building for Transformative Medicine (HBTM)). Walk through the Shapiro Cardiovascular Building and take the bridge to the HBTM. When entering the HBTM take the first right, and it’s the first door on right. (Rm# 02006B)
